Donation from Taubmans and Givit help in hard times

There is nothing like a lick of paint to make a room look 100 times better. Brighter, shinier, cleaner. Taubmans and Givit have come together to donate paint to the Wirib Store and Tourism Park through their In It Together campaign.

The generous act of charity to the park includes 100s of litres of paint in colours selected to blend into the surrounding bushland of the Victoria River Region.

An important asset for locals

The Wirib Store and Tourism Park in Timber Creek and is owned by the local Gunamu Aboriginal Corporation and is an important asset for the Aboriginal people of Timber Creek.

Set up as a not for profit, income is reinvested in food security, increasing Indigenous employment and identifying small business opportunities in the region for Aboriginal people.

All the cabins will be painted outside and in

The park needs some TLC

The Australian outback is tough on buildings and regular upkeep is always needed to keep things looking great. Without the tourist numbers coming in this year, it’s has been hard to justify spending the money on upkeep.

This donation is very welcome, and we know it will go a long way to helping the park to lift booking numbers in the park. The communal bathroom, all the rooms in the park and the new café (not yet open) will be painted as a priority.

Thanks Givit and Taubmans

Taubmans and Givit have been working together to raise $150,000 through the Taubmans In It Together campaign which aims to help struggling regional and remote communities. Wirib Store and Tourism Park feels very special to have been considered for donations and we thank Givit and Taubmans dearly.

The next challenge is to find a painter as Timber Creek doesn’t have one!
